Abyssinia Laws’ funders and the legal services they make possible!
We want generous funders, both public and private, to support Abyssinia Law work. Unlike most free legal aid programs, we still cover most of our funding from our own pocket. However, we are proud that our support from foundations, government and educational institutions has grown in recent years.
Our partners provide essential support, expertise & outreach. If you are passionate about legal information and tackling challenges of access to justice and would like to work together, sponsor us, share our story, or get involved please do not hesitate to contact us!
Currently, we partner with:

African Legal Information Institute
The African Legal Information Institute (AfricanLII) is a project of the Democratic Governance and Rights Unit (DGRU) at the Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, and University of Cape Town. It was incubated at the Southern Africa Litigation Center (SALC).
AfricanLII's main goal is to promote Free Access to Law and Open Justice in Africa.
Subsidiary goals in support of this main goal are to:
- Identify potential new Legal Information Institutes in Africa;
- Assist and support new and existing Legal Information Institutes in Africa;
- Provide a centralized source of pan-African primary and secondary legal material;
- Provide legal information on regional and continental legal institutions;
- Coordinate and support a collaborative resource pool for LIIs across Africa.
AfricaLII work with partners in Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Seychelles, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
This will ensure our aim to build meaningful relationships with governmental and non-governmental organs. Furthermore, we are working with our Partners to bring more transparency and to build up access to justice with quality of information as a whole.
Abyssinia Law is a member to the World Free Access to Legal Movement (FALM).
